Senior Data Engineer

(Experimentation Platform)

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, Experimentation, to join our Marketing & Marketplace Intelligence team, help bring our experimentation (A/B testing) to the next level, and enable thousands of experiments from our product and marketing teams. You will work with analytics tools, data quality, data discoverability, reporting solutions, data pipelines, data storage and more.

You will:

• Design and implement features in our A/B experimentation platform with scalable and efficient data and software engineering practices.
• Work to increase the experiments run by product and marketing teams, aiming to accelerate our learnings and minimize the time spent investigating and understanding the outcomes of our experiments.
• Partner with product, engineering and data teams to understand ways to improve the platform and leverage it even further.

Who you are

• 5+ years of relevant experience in a data role (Data Engineering and adjacent areas) should include data warehousing and analytics tools, techniques and technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hadoop)
• Data Engineering: previous experience organizing and querying data at scale.
• Software Engineering: You have strong fundamentals in Computer Science and a polyglot mindset. Python (or Scala) is your language of choice, though you can migrate between various programming languages. Your passion is delivering clean code and investigating new tools, languages, and practices
• A/B Experimentation: You worked developing an A/B experimentation platform in previous roles. You understand concepts like assignment, exposure, sample size, statistical significance and sequential testing. You are also comfortable talking and rationalizing with non-technical people about these
• Business Experience: You possess the ability to prioritize and manage stakeholders; you are known for your excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Autonomy: Your mindset can be described as autonomous, proactive and customer-oriented. You own your projects
• Teamwork: You firmly believe that a team is more than the sum of its members. Mentoring and sharing knowledge are fulfilling activities for you
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with backend technologies (e.g., databases, server-side languages)
• Understanding or exposure to real-time systems (e.g., event-driven architectures streaming data)
• Prior experience in a start-up environment
